Hello, I am Sophie

A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn't in our long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
The initial months were exhausting— new processes, new routines, new expectations. Routine tasks seemed more complex than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was cultural adjustment, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found spots that fit us, met other families, and began crafting something that felt steady.
Why I Built Mellow Ridge Folio
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow travel material. What was lacking was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Netherlands.
